The article discusses about the life of group of marine animals named "Agnostids". Based on the fossil information, the author proposes different theories about the life of agnostids. The lecture, however, says that the theories are dubious and contradicts them.
Firstly, the free swimming predators have large and well developed vision to catch their prey. But, the agnostids are small and they have tiny pored eyes, which makes it complicate to prey on other fish. Also, the lecture says that there is no statement about the vision based on the fossil record. This casts doubt that the agnostids are the predators.
Furthermore, Sea dwellers are fast and they have the ability to move place to place in short time. Whereas, the agnostids are the slow moving marine animals and they stay only in their localized area. This contradicts the point that they are sea dwellers.
Finally, the reading claims that the agnostids may have the posibility of being parasites and living on other animals. The lecture opposes this argument, based on the size of the agnostids, they do not have the chance of being a parasite. Parasites are smaller and they populate very quickly. Also, considering the size of the agnostids, too many might kill the host organisms. Thus, specific argument about agnostids being parasites has been proved wrong by the lecture.
