The line graph illustrates the average CO2 emissions on average per person in four different countries from 1967 to 2007. Units are measured in metric tonnes. The CO2 emissions of the Italy and Portugal showed a steady but significant rise over the period, while the remaining two experienced a downward trend.
In 1967, the CO2 emissions of the Italy and Portugal were nearly 4.5 metric tonnes and 1 metric tonnes respectively. The CO2 emissions of Italy was increased sharply through out the period and remains constant from 1997 to 2007. Furthermore, it exceeds the amount of CO2 emissions of Sweden in 1990 and reached almost 7.5 metric tonnes at the end of the period. In the mean time, the CO2 emissions in the Portugal grew to 3 metric tonnes in 1997, and experienced a rapid surge to more than 5 metric tonnes and continued with slightly increase to 5.2 metric tonnes in 2007.
The amount of CO2 emissions of Sweden reached its peak at 10.5 metric tonnes in 1997 and began from 9 metric tonnes in 1967 and declined to 5 metric tonnes in 2007. The CO2 emissions of UK(11 metric tonnes) was the highest among these four countries. However, it dramatically declined to 8.5 metric tonnes in 2007.
In conclusion, it is clear that the UK produced the largest amount of gas while Sweden and Portugal were jointly produce the lowest amount of gas.
