The graph displays the proportion of old people in a country in a period between 1940 and 2040, in three different countries. We can say that the proportion is increasing with time from the change observed for USA, Japan and Sweden.
Japan is the country where the change in percentage of aged people rised very sharply. Japan had lesser proportion in 1940 comparing to USA and Sweden, however, Japan became highest in proportion by 2040 with a substantial change in the proportion. Though the curve had a slight lowering nature initially, the change after 2020 was so quick. USA could maintain a healthy proportion in comparison with other two countries and the rate of grow in proportion remained very low, or in other words, the increment is gradual, in the framed period. Thus, the proportion of aged people of USA which was highest 1940 become lowest in a span of 100 years. The rate of change of percentage of old people in Sweden shows a fluctuating nature in the mentioned period. The curve shows frequent, bu,t slight, rises and drops, but, overall growth is in between USA and Japan.
In conclusion, the percentage of aged people is increasing with time and on an average the increase is roughly 20% over 100 years. Different countries have different rate at which the proportion changes.
