The given diagram summarizes the life cycle of Salmon fish. Overall, we can see that this life cycle goes through three stages from laying the eggs to end up with an adult salmon fish. Additionally, it appears that this type of fish spends part of its development in the livers before migrating to the sea.
Getting to the details, the first stage is happened in the upper rivers where water flows slowly. Adult salmons lay their eggs among reeds and small stones. After 5-6 months the eggs hatch and produce what is called fry with about 3-8 cm long. Next, these baby fishes flow towards the lower river where the water speed is fast and this stage takes about 4 years before reaching the second stage.
During the second stage, which is approximately 4 years, fry increases in size and length and when their length increase three times as long as fry, reaching 12-15 cm, it becomes smolt which migrates to the sea. After 5 years in the sea, smolt enlarges in size and its length now hit 70-76 cm to be changed to an adult salmon. Finally, these adult fishes repeat the cycle when they swim to the river back to lay their eggs in a slower flowing water.
