The two diagrams provide some information on the life cycle of the silkworm and describe five stages in the process of silk cloth production.
As can be seen from the first diagram, the life cycle of the silkworm involves four stages. First of all, eggs are produced by the moth and it takes ten days for eggs to turn to a silkworm larva whose food resource is mulberry leaf. After four to six weeks, the larva will produce a kind of silk thread that around itself. This stage lasts three to eight days until larva is totally encased by the cocoon. After a period of sixteen days, moth emerges from the cocoon and the next life cycle begins.
According to the second diagram, there are five stages in the production of silk cloth. The process began by the selection of the cocoon, which is followed by putting the well-selected cocoon into a glass of water. After the water boiled, the cocoon can be separated into thread, which is as long as 300 to 900 meters. Next comes with the twisting stage. After that, these twisted thread dyed and used to produce cloth in the weaving stage.
In sum, one part of the life cycle of the silkworm—cocoon can be used as the main resource which contributed to the production of silk cloth.
