Dear Mr Harris,

I am writing with respect to the recent adverts for vacancy at the head office. I would like to apply for the post of Web Master as this is what I currently do. However, I just gained admission to the university of California for a six-month advanced certification course on Web Technologies and it's implementation on different platforms.

Let me explain myself in details, the course will start on October 1st and will end by November 30 to be precise. I had intended to do the course online but I was made to understand that I will achieve more if I do on-site course as it is a practical based course with a two weeks internship in one of the prestigious companies that are already implementing the technology..

Meanwhile, I have already discussed with Miss Mary David, who usually stand-in for me anytime I am on vacation and she has promised to refer to me as soon as possible should any problem occur. I will make sure my phone is always switched on and close by. Secondly, I can always work online by connecting to the office intranet to fix any urgent issues.

Therefore, I am soliciting for your assistance as your are my immediate boss and would be in the best position to speak on my behalf to the management. Furthermore, the course will be of immense pro to the company, as it will keep us abreast of technology and will also help me in my career advancement.

Thanks for your usual support as I awaits your favourable response.

Yours sincerely,

OLUWUNMI Bajo.
