The line graph compares the spending of clothes online in the USA and Japan from 1999 to 2003. Generally, as the time went by, the purchasing habit of those two countries became identical
In 1990, Japan was spending 10 million dollars on clothes, about twice as much as the USA(5 million dollars). After that, expenditure in Japan soared in 2000, increasing to approximately 12 million dollars, while America also had a growth of 5 million dollars from previous period.
By 2001, there was a downward trend for both two countries. With a drastic fall, the number of Japan plunged to level of 6 million dollars which was slightly lower than the USA counterpart(7 million dollars).
The growth can clearly be seen ever since 2002, when the expenditure in the USA and Japan soared significantly, reaching 16 and 17 million dollars. By 2003, online clothes appeared to be more popular, pushing the figures higher at the peak of 20 millions dollars for both Japan and the USA.
