The given charts depict water consumption in 6 countries throughout multiple sectors (industrial, agriculture and domestic).
Most of the water used in South America, Africa, Central Asia and SEA are for agriculture purposes, whereas western countries like North America and Europe uses most of their water in the industrial sector.
North America and Europe both share similar traits in water consumption. In both countries, the industrial sector triumphs in consuming almost half of the countries water supply followed by the agriculture sector which occupies a-third of the water consumption. The remaining 13% and 15% respectively are then used by domestic means.
In countries such as South America, Africa, Central Asia and SEA, 80% of water is consumed by agriculture. Mainly the cultivation of food and such. Besides that, 10% of water in both Africa and Asia are used for the humble household while South America uses a whooping 19%.
To top that up, the industrial sector accounted for nearly 10% of South America, Africa and SEA’s water while Central Asia only has a meager 5%.
