The diagrams below shows the changes that have taken place at west park secondary school since it’s construction in1950
The maps illustrate how West park Secondary school was transformed. They were separated into three main periods: 1950, 1980, and 2010. The process of transformation took 60 years, where just two things saved their locations (main road, school).
In 1980 living houses, which located next to school building, were replaced by car park and science block. While playground had not changed, territory of farmland had been removed to give space for new sport field.
To compare, in 2010, even though all facilities still existed in the map and the trio of science block, school and main road were remained and unchanged like it was in 1980, there were significant changes of area. Firstly, old sport field was squeezed into small size, so that one third of the acreage of playground was cut for sports field. Therefore freed land was occupied by car park, which grew into the biggest sector that accounted for nearly half of the chart.
