The article states that the American wood companies would not adopt environmentally friendly practices and provide three reasons for support. However, the professor refutes each of the author's reasons and says that they will accept this.
First, the reading claims that American consumers do not care about ecologically friendly advertisements because they do not trust these kinds of advertisements. But, the professor says that the American do not treat all the advertisement similarly. And in fact, they like and trust these kinds of independent organizations.
Second, the author of the passage posit that the high value of the eco-friendly product will discourage American customers from buying. Because they care much about the price. However, the professor says that they care about price only when the price of a competitive good varies a lot (more than 5%). Besides, they appreciate ecologically friendly goods.
Finally, the passage says that if the American company exports its product foreign country then achieving a certificate will make sense. Unfortunately, they sell their products only in the United States. Therefore, it will not work. The professor opposes this point by explaining that if American customers like eco-friendly wood product then companies from other countries will take control of their market which is not desirable. Therefore, American wood companies will accept this new practice for achieving eco-certification.
