Furthermore, South Korea was in 5th position, with 13 gold medals and 28 total. Germany and France followed South Korea were in 3rd and 4th positions with 44 and 34 total medals respectively.
Similarly, Italy and Hungary both won 8 medals, while Australia was at the bottom of table, winning just 7 gold medals. Although Australia won more medals than France, Italy, and Hungary, they ranked lower because countries were ranked based on the proportion of gold medals they won.
