The bar chart compares the number of Olympic medals acquired in twelve different nations around the globe. It is clear to see that the United States had the highest number of total medals followed by the Soviet Union and the UK respectively. On the contrary, Japan had minimal levels of the medal achieved.
The US and the Soviet Union have over 1000 medals, and only four countries – the UK, France, Germany, and Italy – have won more than 500 Olympic medals. The rest of the country has achieved just under 500 medals.
To be more specific, the US has won a total of around 2,300 Olympic medals, including approximately 900 gold medals, 750 silver, and 650 bronze, which is double the number of the Soviet Union and triple the number of the UK. When it comes to Japan, the country ranks last with a mere 400 medals, nearly half as many as the Soviet Union's total medals.
Apart from the US and the Soviet Union, China is the only other country with a noticeably higher proportion of gold medals compared to silver and bronze.
