Both the reading passage and the lecture are talking about the device used for the greed army. The reading claims that this new device was never used. However in the lecture the professor refute all the point in the passage considering unconvincing it and logically dispute and challenges all the points.
First of all according to the reading the Greeks were not prepare technologically.The lecture deny this argument saying that, to start the fire they don't need a big ship ,Instead the utilize a dozen of ships to provoke the fire.
Secondly the reading says that to bring fire to the ships the mirror takes too much time.Neverless the professor reject this saying that.Some experoiment probe that the fire could be start in 10min. Due to fact the ship was not only wood,they made this with others materials, for example pitch that was very flammable.
Finally the reading consider that.The mirrors are not considering something better.The professor is not agree with this saying that.They used this methods , because the romans soldiers were familiar with the flaming arrow.so indeed the will expect this, But with the mirror they will be surprise become the fire start suddenly in the ship.Therfore the lecture totally oposses the reading passage
