In 1930, Canada marked 120 thousand people in jail comparing with 100000 in New Zealand and the United States and nearly 20000 in Great Britain. In 1940, the number of prisoners in the USA increased to reach almost 130000 while this number decreased in the other countries. In 1950, Canada returned to the top with almost 120000, and more than 100000 in the USA while GB, Australia, and New Zealand remain at the lowest rate between 40000 and 50000.
In 1960, the number of criminals in jail increased for all countries but the order still the same until it declined in 1970, where GB, Australia, and New Zealand marked the same number which is 70000, the USA and Canada remain at the top with almost 100 thousands and 800000 prisoners respectively. In 1980, the United States marked the biggest number of prisoners with almost 140 thousand while the other countries remain between 50000 and 90000 prisoners.
