More and more people are suffering from health problems caused by a modern lifestyle which cannot be treated with modern medicines. Some people think that a return to traditional medicine should be encouraged. To what extend do you agree?
Modern lifestyle has brought humans better living conditions but illnesses. While conventional medicines is not adequate to tackle with certain diseases, those recommend going back to alternative remedy. Both therapies definitely have their own strengths and weaknesses; therefore, a combination of established and traditional medicines is supposed to be the best solution.
To begin with, prevailing diseases are almost related to the lack of physical activity or the consumption of unhealthy food, people must have a sense of self-awareness to deal with these health issues. In other words, without healthy lifestyle, neither western nor oriental cure could assist people to eradicate poor health.
In terms of alternative treatment, there is obviously no doubt about its safety as most types of ancient methods are based on herbs and plants which are normally consistent with human nature. It extremely alleviates some annoying problems like headache, insomnia through some common cures such as acupuncture, naturopathy or reiki. In addition, traditional therapy not only heals and refreshes human mind, but also is entirely free of side effects. However, alternatives relies on natural phenomena namely yin and yang, the five elements and so on, which is not rational and scientific. This method is not effective enough to treat current diseases namely cholera or plague and life-threatening diseases namely cancer or diabetes.
Therefore, archaic remedy should be combined with scientifically-proved treatment to expedite these two therapies’ benefits. Despite the drawback of established cure is that patients, even well-trained practitioners, are prone to drug abuse. Abused substances that have never been used in nature, are alien to the human body, have caused many harms to human health. Furthermore, the rapid and too deep development of narrow specialties is also a favorable condition for the tendency to focus on simple healing, and neglect care in improving self-regulation and self-control, proactively protect the health of patients. On the contrary, with its strengths are modern equipment, strong pharmaceuticals, which can be diagnosed, intervened and treated promptly and effectively with emergency, surgery, acute and infectious illnesses, even if necessary it can transplant, replace pathological parts, would make this connection reach the pinnacle of medical society.
In conclusion, the government should take account into combining conventional medicines with traditional medicines to create a harmonious balance. People should also care for a healthy lifestyle along with contemporary medical field in order to control current health issues of modern lifestyle.
