The diagram illustrates the process through which water is used to produce electrical power.
The process begins when water from rivers is held in a high-level reservoir behind a dam. Then, water connects with reversible turbines through an intake. When it is opened in the day, water flows into these turbines and then generates electricity using an activated generator in a power site. After that, water flows are gathered in a low-level reservoir and until the night when the intake is closed to prevent the flow of water, simultaneously, the turbines pump water from the low-level reservoir back to the high-level one. The following stage is when hydroelectric power is transferred through power lines to the national grid and then it is distributed to domestic and industrial consumers as well as educational and medical facilities.
Overall, hydroelectric power is generated through a relatively sophisticated process which comprises about five steps.
