The reading discusses wonderful behaviors of elephants and the auther listed three ideas to support this issue. However, the professor finds all the ideas misunderstanding and presents some evidence to refute them.
First, the author points out that elephants are aware of appoaching death so they seperate their herds and go to the near of water alone. In contrast, the lecturer dismisses this idea and asserts that there is a practical reason for this behavior. When elephants become old their tooth become down and they need to softer vegetation. As a result, they go near the water to find the food, the soft vegetation grew souronding the water.
Furtheremore, the author mentioned that they have artistic ability to paint drawings. On the contrary, the speaker casts doubt on this issue by standing that as they are trained to paint, the stroke ears of them are so sensible and make them able to draw some patterns but they do not represent flowers or animals.
Finally, the reading passage proposes that elephants fear of mice because the recent research revealed when the mice went to their place they backed away and left the area to avoide them. On the other hand, in direct contradiction to the reading passage, the speaker claims that it is just a misintrepretation bacause mice is the animal that elephants are unfamilair with them. Thus, the natural intrinsic has caused they avoid mice. Thogh, in the zoo that there are mice and they know them, they do not feel to expose to threatening behavior. In conclusion, according to the listening materials, the argumant that elephants have surprising behaviors are unwarrented.
