The bar chart compares the proportion of domestics in household owing and renting accommodation in England and wales from 1918 to 2011.
It is clear that the percentage of households in rented are higher before 1971, but after that, people who owned the house are way past households in rented houses.
Looking the information in more detail, in 1918, there were nearly 80 percent of people who rented the house while households in owned accommodation only stood at around 25 percent. In 1939 and 1953, the percentage of households in rented accommodation has slight decreased just under 70, but the proportion of people who rent the house was a small rise. In 1961, the percentage of household on rented fell by nearly 20% compare to 1918, whereas only about 15% difference in household in rented. 50% of both owned and rented the house in 1971.
From 1981 to 2001, we can see an increase in owned accommodation, by contrast, rented in accommodation had dropped to its lowest percentage. In 2011, the proportion of households in owned fell a little bit, approximately at 65% while the were a tiny increase in rented accommodation, at roughly 35%.
