The given graph shows changes in the birth and death rates in New Zealand since 1901 and forecasts shifting trends until 2101.
According to the graph, the birth and death rates have increased over time since 1901. The rate of birth has been consistently higher than the death one till 2041 and it’s predicted that there will be a trend reversal in the future.
As can be seen in the graph, the rate of birth has raised dramatically from 1901 to the present day. It stood at 20,000 at the start of this period and reached a peak of over 60,000 in 1961. After that, the number has fluctuated between 65,000 and 50,000 and it’s expected to decline slowly to around 41,000 by the end of the century.
Besides that, the death rate started from about 10,000 in 1901 and has been increasing steadily. however, this increase will probably level off at around 60,000 in 2061, before dropping slightly for the next years.
