The table depicts the list of top ten nations with the highest population in 2019 as well as the prediction in 2100. Overall, China was the country with the largest population in 2019, followed by India. However, the population of India is projected to surpass that of China in 2100. Moreover, there is a prediction that three new countries (D.R. Congo, Ethiopia and Tanzania) will be on this list in 2100.
In 2019, China and India were two countries that had the largest population in the world, at 1439 million and 1380 million, respectively. Nevertheless, China’s population is projected to decrease significantly to 941 million in 2100. Meanwhile, it is anticipated that India’s population will rise to 1551 million. In addition, the figure for the USA was 331 million. It is predicted to increase slightly to 478 million in 2100. However, the USA is predicted to stand at the fourth place in 2100.
Regarding Pakistan, the figure was 221 million in 2019. It is also projected to increase to 316 million in 2100. As regards Indonesia, although there is an anticipation that the figure will rise to 292 million, it is projected to step down to seventh place in 2100. In addition, Nigeria’s population is projected to soar to 730 million in 2100. It is also predicted that Nigeria will move up to the third place. Furthermore, Bangladesh, Russia and Mexico are anticipated to be removed from the list. On the other hand, there is a prediction that D.R.Congo, Ethiopia and Tanzania will be included in the list.
