The line graph compares the changes in the rates of unemployment in the US and Japan between 1993 and 1999.
As for the US, its rating was fluctuating and gradually decreasing over the period. In the beginning of the period it had the highest index of 7.0. In the following year, it started fluctuating and falling down to 5.5 in the end of march 1995. After that, it increased up to 6 and was slowly reducing again. In 1996, it leveled off and finished the year with the mark of 5.0.
By contrast, Japanese unemployment rating was the lowest in the beginning of the period, 2.5, it doubled its rating. In 1993, it suddenly grew up to 30, after that it was going upwards rapidly. In the end of march 1994, it aligned and started to fluctuate. Then, it rocketed to almost 4.5. In the following month it experienced a fall, growing up promptly up to 5. Moreover, it aligned with American rate at the same time, finishing the year with the same percentage.
Overall, although in the beginning of the period, American and Japanese rates were opposite, they finished the period with the same percentage.
