The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar graph illustrates data about the total duration of telephone calls in the UK over a seven-year period, from 1995 to 2002.
Overall, there was an upward trend in two of the three categories, while the other one - local - underwent some fluctuations over the period in question.
Looking at the details, mobile phones were the least popular one at the beginning, as its figure started at only under 5 billions in 1995. After that, the total minutes for this category saw a gradual rise during the next 4 years, this was followed by a sharp increase starting from 1999 and finally this figure reached about 45 billions at the end of the period. With regards to national and international calls - fixed line, it can be seen that there was a similar pattern. However, the figure for this category only went up slightly, from roughly 37 to over 60 billions. Local - fixed line calls had always had the highest figure in the period, but it did not increase every year. In fact, the total duration did rise in the first half of the period and peaked at 90 billions in 1999, at which point it started to decrease marginally and finally returned to the figure which was same as the first year.
