The two presented pie charts give data about the changes in the proportion of eight different sectors of the economy in Turkey over a period of 16 years, from 2000 to 2016.
As is observed, agriculture made up the biggest part of the chart while construction was the smallest segment in 2000. In comparison, by 2016, healthcare and education was the most significant part of the economy, whereas the lowest contribution was made by finance, business and others.
Construction was only a tiny fraction which was just 3% in 2000, then underwent a more than threefold rise to 10% in 2016. There was also a slight increase in manufacturing when it came from 8% to 12% in the timeframe of 16 years. Trade, utilities, and transportation witnessed a fractional growth of 2% since 14% in 2000. During the period, the finance, business and other services segment rose from 5% to 8%.
Within a time span of 16 years, the sector that made the highest contribution in 2000, which is agriculture, declined sharply and went from 24% to 14% in 2016. Government and leisure and hospitality occupied 12% and 17% of the economy of Turkey in 2000, then had a downward tendency and dropped to 9% and 14% at the end of the period. Healthcare and education was the only component that could remain stable during 16 years, which is 17%.
