The diagram below describes how stormwater is recycled in an Australian city. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The drawing illustrates the way in which stormwater is recycled into usable clean water in a city in Australia.
In general, it is patently obvious that there are five prominent stages in this process, initiating with the infiltration of rainwater through the residential’s drains, and culminating with the formation of clean water used for living.
At the first stage of the process, rainwater containing impurities is collected through the sewer system of residential areas throughout the city. The collected water will be transferred to a water filtration system consisting of four filters in the next step to clean the impurities present in the water. Through the first filter in the system, the plastic and rubbish will be removed from the water. Then, in the second filter, all tiny particles will be eliminated. The third and fourth layers can be considered as the two most important filter layers in the second stage because these filters will purify bacteria, viruses and harmful molecules, salts in the water.
In the third stage, each liter of water, after going through a complex filtration process, is purified again by 4 milligrams of chlorine. Finally, qualified treated water will be stored in a water storage area and prepared to supply clean water for the city.
