The chart below shows global sales of the top five mobile phone brands between 2009 and 2013.
The bar chart compares international revenues of 5 world-prevalent brands of phone over a 4-year period
Overall, throughout the examined period, while Samsung progressively dominated the mobile phone market, Nokia failed to maintain its highest position in terms of phone sales. Whereas, ZTE’s sales data remained nearly unchanged from 2009 to 2013
In 2009, the profit of Samsung was around 250 million, which then surged with a two-fold increase to roughly 450 million in 2013, the highest revenue among all brands at that time. The same pattern was witnessed in the figure of Apple but with much lower number. Specifically, Apple also recorded a rocket in its mobile phone revenue when their profit significantly grew by about 120 million in 4 years. On the other hand, the global sales of ZTE phones was not seen with much dramatic changes in these years
As far as the revenue of Nokia and LG phones are considered, these two brands bore some resemblance when they both saw declines in their bussiness. In detail, although Nokia was the most favourite phone brand in 2009, receiving approximately 420 million as profit; after a steady decrease, it plummeted to not above 250 million in 2013, which was nearly 100 million higher than that of LG, the brand that also registered a gradual drop by around 50 million
