The pie charts depict the mediums by which Canadian aged 18 to 25 utilize to watch television over the decade – from 2009 to 2019.
Overall, the main way people get daily news and watch recreational shows changed significantly throughout the time period with conventional TV and flat-screen TV being the most prevalent methods in 2009 and 2019, respectively.
As per the chart, in 2009, beside conventional televisions, laptops and desktop computers were those of the main devices used to watch TV with the proportion being somewhere in the vicinity of 20%. At the time, mobile phones were just in the middle of the prevalence tier, however, ten years later, this type of technology device increased its popularity to 26%, nearly crossing the 30% mark.
Notwithstanding flat-screen TVs and tablets being the most uncommon method of streaming in 2009, nevertheless, in 2019, these gadgets witnessed a substantial increase in terms of their ubiquity with 19% and 27%, respectively. The trend is different for conventional televisions as they reduced nearly ninefold the former year. Additionally, both desktop computers and laptops received a percentage of 12% over the period. Last but not least, the number of tablet users nearly quadrupled – from 5% to 19%.
