The line graph illustrates the total percentage of vehicle registrations shared among the three most popular types of commercial vehicles, namely: trucks, taxis, and buses in America from 1970 to 2010. Overall, it is noticeable that while the proportion of bus and truck applications is declining, it is true that taxi registrations are increasing rapidly. Additionally, the percentage of truck registrations was the highest over the period shown.
In 1970, truck registration began a period of approximately 50%., Over the following two decades, the figure for trucks reached a trough of 30%. After ten years, in 2010, truck applications rose significantly to 45%, respectively.
In the same period, the percentage of taxi registration started at 25%. From there, the number grew slightly to peak at 35% in 1980, surpassing the figure for trucks. Then it decreased dramatically to hit its lowest point at 15% in 2010, ten years later. The registration of trucks has recovered to equal the peak of 1980. Similar to taxi applications but quite lower, the percentage of bus registration started at 5%, surged to 15%, and decreased to 5% in 2010. However, unlike taxi applications, these dive continuously and were much lower than those of trucks and taxis, at just over 3% in 2010.
