Overall, it is evident that the proportion of the population who aged 65 in the USA and Sweden increases with slight drops in the period whereas that in Japan starts to decrease from 1940 to 1980 before a sharp rise.
Firstly, in 1940, the highest percentage of older people living in the USA at nearly 10%, Sweden ranked second with 7%, it was then followed by Japan with only 5%. There was a increasing trend in the USA to 15% in 1980 and then it received a slightly decrease. However, it is projected that the figure will continuously rise until 2040. A similar trend can also be witnessed in Sweden, the number of demographics climbs from 1940 to 2040 ( at 25%) with some small fluctuation.
Turning to Japan, there was a slight decline in the proportion of old people from 1940 to 1990 before it starts to surge to the end of the period. The figure will soar dramatically from 2030 and reached the peak of over 25% which is the highest rate between three nations in 2040.
