teenth century. The map shows the development of the village.
The map indicates the growth of a village named Chorleywood from 1868 to 1994
Overall, it is apparent that along with the development of the village, transport facility was also improved through out the shown period
In 1868 to 1883, the village covered a small area situated next to one of the main road. However, during the next 139 years, it expanded to the south forming a larger space alongside the main road and crossed by a new railway constructed from west to east in 1909
From 1922 to 1970, Chorleywood witnessed significant development in its land when there were two areas, one located in the left corner of the railway and the mainroad and the other was on the right hand of the land where the station was situated. In the final period, noticeably, a new motorway was built to the east of the village in 1970 running north to south along the map, which was also the center of further development of the village, which wook place around the motorway intersections, the railway and one of the main roads
