Overall, the percentage of cyclists and pedestrian saw a downward trend throughout the given period. Meanwhile, the proportion of commuters who used car increased sharply from the lowest point in 1960 to the highest point at the end of the period.
In 1960, a majority of people walked to work, at under 35%, followed by bike with 25%. The figure for pedestrians dropped less than 10% in 2020. Similarly, the proportion of cyclists saw a significant decline, above 5% and bike was the least common means of transport in the end.
On the other hand, buses and cars witnessed different trends in their data. In 1960, the percentage of bus users was under 20%, 4 times as much as cars. 20 years later, the proportion of commuters who travelled by bus grew more than 20%, then dropped at 17% in 2000. Whereas, the figure for drivers saw a dramatic rise to more than 35%, surpassed bus and car became the most prevalent option in 2020.
