The given charts illustrate the percentage of four kinds of transport in the UK in three different years. Looking from an overall perspective, private cars take up the majority part in all the concerning years, while the recreational vehicles are always the smallest part.
From 1965 to 1985, there are two major changes in the proportions of different vehicles. As for the vehicles owned by the individuals, the percentage grows from 40% to 55%. In contrast, the proportion of the recreational transport shrinks from 15% to only 5%. The percentage for commercial vehicles remains unchanged during this period, while the public transport slightly drops from 25% to 20%.
Compared with 1985, the spread of different kinds of transport experiences dramatically changes. One of the most obvious features is that transport for commercial usage is shrinking drastically, from 20% to 10%. Meanwhile, the private cars claim 60% of all types of transport. Both the percentages of public transport and recreation vehicles grow 2-3%.
In conclusion, as the years go by, the preference of transportation for people in UK keep changing.
