The diagram illustrates how West Park secondary school has transformed over a period of 60 years since it was formed in 1950. It can be seen that the school had undergone some significant changes during this time period, including the extension of school structure, as well as the addition of a sports field and a parking lot.
In 1950, the school only had one building, which was right next to the residential area. There was only a playground just behind the school and farmland located south-west of it. The dwellings were removed after 30 years to make way for a car park. Furthermore, the structure was divided into two parts, one of which was designated as the science block and the other as the main structure. Another notable development was the transformation of farmland into a sports field.
Looking at the school in 2010, the only marked alteration was the expansion of the parking lot, which now occupies over half of the total space. As a result, the size of the sports field and playground had to be reduced in order for the car park to be exlarged.
