Overall, the quantity of employees were by far the greatest in the initial period yet it declined significantly over the course of 6 decades. By contrast, there was a substancial rise in the number of factories in the given countries. There were more male workers than female workers according to the table.
To be more precise, 477100 workers were employed with 287100 being males and 190000 being females in the year 1851, which was the most enormous figure. However, the number of employees fell considerably to 291780 while there were around the same number of factories in 1861 (227).
Furthermore, both categories of men and women continued the downfall trend, dropping to 76132 and 50000 respectively whereas the quantity of factories grew remarkably to 721 in 1881. Finally, 1901 witnessed a huge decline in the proportion of employees and factories, reaching 31000 male workers and 30000 female workers laboring in 600 factories.
