However, the proportion of renters was higher than home owners at the end of the period. There were some oscillations in both the the percentages of home owners and renters throughout the year.
In the first 4 years, people who tend to buy home accounted for nearly 60% to around 55% in 2007. The figure for home owners recorded a descending trend from 2008 to 2010 which were around 55%, over 50% and less than 50%, respectively. The figure for home owners and rental owners both remained constant in 2011 and 2012 at about 43% and around 41%. Then, the proportion of adults who bought home declined steadily to around 35% after 10 year-period.
In terms of people who rented homes, the figure oscillated throughout 6 years before reaching the plateau in 2011 and 2012. After 2012, there was a considerably increase in the proportion of renters which was around 43% and over two times higher than in 2004.
