The table shows the income spent on 4 common items in the UK in 1998
The given table illustrates the figure for income spending by adults and children on the four common items in the UK, which are food, electronic equipment, music, and video, measured in percentage, counted in 1998. Overall, it is evident that food and music were the most popular products purchased by adults and children, respectively. In addition, women seemed to buy more food, while girls’ biggest spending was on music.
In terms of food, women spent their income just below 40 percent, outnumbering the percentage of spending allocated by adults and men for the same item by 14 percent and 25 percent respectively. Girls, however, only allocated their spending on food for 11 percent, followed by those of children and boys roughly one-tenth each.l Moreover, adults, men, and women merely had 5 percent of their income on music. In contrast, the largest proportion was owned by girls about 40 percent, eclipsing those of children and boys for nearly 2 percent.
As shown in the table, electronic equipment accounted for 23 percent of children, 18 percent of boys, and 5 percent of girls’ income. Although women only spent their earnings one percent on the devices, adults and men allocated 5 percent and 10 percent respectively. Lastly, recorded as the least favorable item for boys, girls, and children, videos only made up between 12 percent and eighty percent of their income. On the other hand, the rest of the groups spent not more than two percent on these.
