The illustrations compare the relationship between number of vehicles and emission of CO2 in England and Wales for the next 20 years.
Overall, there are 4 numbers of vehicles have been listed. While the number of cars, trucks and vans has been forecasted to be increased in future, the amount of CO2 has also been predicted to be increased simultaneously.
The number of vehicles has been predicted to be increased steadily for the first 5 years from 2000 to 2005. Then it has been guessed to rise from around 25 million to 35 million for the next five years. The growth of the vehicles then again has been assumed to be remained steady for the last 10 years.
Over the span of the period from 2000 to 2020 the emission of CO2 from car, truck and van have been assumed to grow except from the buses; which have been forecasted to be remained same from the beginning of the period till end. On the other hand, the car has been thought to be the most carbon emitted vehicle in the future. The emission of CO2 from the van has been forecasted to be slightly higher for next two decades. In addition, though the emission of carbon-di-oxide has been predicted to be just 2 tons form the first phase of 10 years, it has been forecasted that the emission of CO2 would rise from 17 tons to around 23 tons almost thrice from that of the last decade.
