The first chart below shows how energy is used in an average Australian household. The second chart shows the greenhouse gas emissions which result from this energy use.
The given diagrams depict information regarding household energy use and its greenhouse emissions in an average Australian family.
Overall, it is apparent that heating is the most significant contributor to energy consumption while the opposite can be obviously witnessed in cooling. However, water heating is the leading culprit that emits the most significant amount of greenhouse gas.
Concerning domestic energy consumption, Australian families have the highest demand for heating, which occupies approximately three-seventh, recording 42%. Following that, the proportion of water heating appliances is exactly 30%, which is precisely twofold other appliances. Additionally, refrigeration consumes only 7%, which is one-sixth that of heating appliances. The figures for cooling and lighting are of the two minimal data, respectively accounting for 2%, and 4%.
In respect to greenhouse gas released in Australian households, water heating produces emissions the most substantially, registering 32%, while cooling has the most negligible figure which records 3%. Other appliances contribute to 28%, which is basically two times higher than that of refrigeration. Meanwhile, heating appliances are 15%, followed by refrigeration and lighting respectively with 14% and 8%.
