Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is more important to read or watch the news presented by people whose views are similar to your own than by people whose views are different?
some people in the world think that it is helpful to watch or read a newspaper presented by a person who has also the same ideology that they have. However, I totally disagree with that stand. I firmly believe that in day to day life we should listen to the opposite side of the situation. I will illustrate my beliefs in the subsequent paragraph.
First, we should listen to the opposite side of the situation because in this modern world of social media, there are many fake pedalers implanting their agenda to weaken the democratic system. For instance, in India the mainstream tv news channels and their social media accounts post pictures of wrestlers' protests in which they showed smiling with help of artificial intelligence. consequently, some people who have been regular tv watchers believe that news for a while, but later it was cleared by wrestlers that were not smiling by the original photograph. it is not always the same as it is, sometimes they post original content also, it is just times that matter most. As a result, it is important to clarify both sides of a particular thing before judging it.
second, we have to recognize the different pictures of a situation because it could happen to you also. sometimes the karma hit very badly. For example, the news channel named ABP news, always tries to spread hate comments about muslim people and there was one reporter who was muslim but blindly worked for her boss. later people started to ask questions about his loyalty towards the channel because of her religion. consequently, she resigned from the channel. it is certainly clear to see why we should stay neutral while reading and watching the news.
last, we should try to know other side news because we have a right to know the truth in the country and we should use it to, verify such news channels or newspapers. For example e there is a man in Delhi named zuber who is a social media personality, known for his fact-checking of news which is intentionally spread by mainstream news channels. whats zuber do is use their right to know information and question the news channels if they telecast something wrong. Like zuber, everyone in the community also tries to do that. it is a sign of active citizen.
In conclusion, this topic seems complex for someone and we can get a long debate on it. Still, in the light of the reasons I mentioned, I believe that people need to watch or read different news presented by different people who have different views.
