In many countries today, if people want to find work, they have to move away from their friends and families. Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?
In contemporary society, the pursuit of employment often necessitates individuals to relocate, resulting in a geographical separation from their families and friends. While there are certain drawbacks to this situation, I firmly believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
To begin with, the decision to move to a new area in search of better job opportunities can lead to significant financial benefits. Individuals hailing from underdeveloped regions with relatively low average wages often choose to migrate to urban centers where lucrative job offers abound. This means that skilled workers with outstanding academic qualifications have the potential to secure employment in prestigious corporations, which offer a wide range of employment benefits in their contracts. Consequently, despite the necessity of living away from loved ones, these individuals can significantly enhance their earning potential. For example, in Vietnam, a substantial number of rural residents willingly sacrifice their relationships by relocating to major cities, driven by the belief that such moves will result in higher salaries.
In addition to the aforementioned benefit, those who decide to resettle in new areas may encounter noteworthy challenges. Particularly, individuals who emigrate from their home country and begin a new life in an unfamiliar environment often experience culture shock. Initially, differences in various aspects, such as culture, climate, or even language, may pose difficulties for newcomers, potentially leading to feelings of isolation if they struggle to adapt. Consequently, this may give rise to various health-related issues, including depression, if new immigrants do not receive appropriate support from others, negatively impacting their mental well-being.
Taking everything into consideration, although job-related migration can have its downsides, I maintain the view that the financial benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The opportunity to earn a higher income and improve one's financial situation can have a long-lasting positive impact on individuals and their families. Furthermore, while challenges such as culture shock may arise, these can be overcome with time and support. Therefore, the advantages of job-related migration are significant and should not be overlooked.
