The bar chart compares the gross earnings from five types of fiction books , namely young adult, classics, mystery, romance and sci-fi & fantasy between 2006 and 2010.
Overall, all five types of books experienced considerable fluctuations over the period. Romance was the type that had the highest sales.
In 2006, the sales of romance books was over 80 thousand dollars, compared to the figure for mystery books which was at 60 thousand dollars. However, 2008 saw a sudden decline in the sales of both types. From that time on, there was some remarkable variations in the figure for the Romance, while the Mystery remained stable at about 55 thousand dollars.
On the other hand, the amount of earnings from the young adult books was approximately 30 thousand dollars in 2006, whereas the figures for the Classics and the Sci-Fi & Fantasy were the same, at about 18 thousand dollars. During a period of 5 years, the figure for the Classics dropped to its lowest point at around 10 thousand dollars in 2010, while two remain types also witnessed a noticeable reduction in the sales in comparison with the figures in the beginning of the period.
