The charts below give information on the ages of people when they got married in one particular country in 1996 and 2008.
The given charts give information about six different married age ranges in one particular country, in 1996 and 2008
Overall, it is apparent that the percentage of both men and women getting married under 30 decreased slightly, while the opposite is true for those older than 30. Moreover, 25-29 was the most popular age range for women to get married, while it was 30-34 for men.
Regarding the first three age groups, the figures for people getting married at age of 16-19 registered the lowest percentage, with women at less than 2% in 1996 and 0.5% in 2008. It was clear that men showed no tendency to marry during this age. The percentage of women aged 20-24 decreased dramatically, from 6% in 1996 to approximately 3% in 2008. A similar pattern was true for men, with the rate raging from less than 2% to 2.5%. Noticeably, the proportion of women belonging to the 25-29 remained the same in both years, standing at about 12%, while that of men declined slightly to less than 10% in 2008.
Regarding older age groups, a considerable rise to 8% for females and 11% for males could be seen in the 30-34 age group. Additionally, the percentage increase for men aged 35-39 was four times higher than that for women in the same year, with 4% and 1% respectively. Finally, the age group of 40-44 reached its peak at 7% for men and over 2% for women.
