In some countries, health care is free, paid for by the state. In other countries, payment is divided between the state and people themselves. Discuss both systems, and say which one is better.
In certain countries, health care is either provided free of charge by the state or financed through a combination of state funding and individual contributions. Both systems have their merits and drawbacks, but I contend that the divided payment system is superior to the free one.
Health care free of charge in many countries can have certain benefits. Firstly, it can grant free access to essential health services in impoverished areas, where people are unable to afford such amenities. This can help them save their lives when suffering from a disease despite poverty. For example, children living in impoverished areas can receive immediate medical care without financial burden, thus potentially saving their lives. Moreover, state-funded health services can lead to a wider spread of medical facilities throughout the country, ensuring access for all citizens irrespective of their financial status, thereby improving the efficacy of public health care services to some extent.
The divided payment system for health care also offers advantages in certain aspects. A notable advantage is the adequate funding for medical purposes. When patients purchase their own treatment, the fees contribute to the funding of the general health system, thus alleviating financial pressure on the government. This fund can also be utilized to discover new medicine and effective curing methods. Furthermore, paying for health services allows patients to choose more suitable and effective treatment options than those offered by the state. Therefore, their health conditions can improve significantly due to the suitability of treating methods they pay to choose.
Considering two systems, I suppose that the divided payment system is better since the government cannot sustain the high costs of treating certain diseases over the long term. If the state has to solely bear this burden, the public health system is likely to face a financial crisis, rendering it inadequate to the increasing demand for health care.
