The table shows the Proportions of Pupils Attending Four Secondary School Types Between Between 2000 and 2009.
The table depicts the data on attendance in four different types of secondary schools from 2000 to 2009.
Overall, in 9 years, the total attendance in voluntary-controlled schools was the highest. Moreover, there were distinct trends in the proportion of pupils attending secondary schools. While specialist, grammar and voluntary-controlled schools' attendance went downward, the data for community schools' attendance experienced a massive increase throughout the 9-year period.
In 2000, the percentage of voluntary-controlled school pupils ranked first place (52%), 50% more than that of specialist and community schools (12%). Furthermore, the proportion of grammar schools' attendance ranked second, with 24%, doubling the ratio of specialist and community schools.
During 2005 and 2009, the estimation of community school pupils skyrocketed to the top, with 58% (2009), nearly five times higher than its data in 2000 and a half more than the lowest percentage in 2009. In 2005, voluntary-controlled schools' attendance remained stable at first place despite decreasing, but could not continue to reach the top in the next 4 years as its percentage was only 20%. The other school types, such as specialist and grammar, saw a decrease in the attendance percentage. While the percentage of specialist schools declined gradually and ranked the lowest of the table with only 10% in 2009, attendance at grammar schools decreased by half, from 24% (2000) to 12% (2009).
