People are living in a ‘throwaway society,’ using things for a short time and then throwing them away. What are the causes of this? What problems does it lead to?
Nowadays, more and more people use items for short period and after that they throw the things away. This essay will address the factors contributing to this phenomenon and propose viable solutions to deal with this matter.
Many people are unaware about the consequences of dumping a way their items as they never receive proper information about this issue. To deal with this problem, the govermental body should act quickly to increase people awareness about the negative effects of trowing away things. Placing bilboard containing message related to downside effects of consumerism, in various places, such as shoping centers or markets, for instance is an efective solution. This way, whenever people want to buy new things, they have to reconsider it, and eventually there will be no additional stuffs to be dumped.
Another possible variable is economic factor. Stuff, such as clothes are much more affordable in this era in comparison to decades ago. With limited amount of money, people are able to buy several set of new clothers, leading to consumerism life style. To solve this issue, the government have to impose high tax for consumer goods, such as clothes. Thus, the number of goods that can be purchased is limited and less things will end as waste.
Tu sum up, factors such as unaware about its negative consequences and decreasing economi value of consumer goods are two most important variables of the phenomenon. Therefore, to tackle this problem, approaches such as educating people and imposing higher tax are possible solutions.
