The article states that Ethanol Fuel made from plants like corns, or sugar cane is not a good alternative to gasoline, and brings few reasons for that. However, the speaker doesn't agree with the article, and refuses each reason of the article, and consider them unconvincing.
First, the article says that increased use of ethanol fuel would not help to solve global warming problem because it produces carbon dioxide which trap heat in the atmosphere, and cause global warming, but the speaker says it is true that ethanol fuel release carbon dioxide, but plants that we create ethanol fuel from like corns absorb carbon dioxide, so it removes the problem of global warming.
Second, the passage states that the production of ethanol fuel would significantly reduce the amount of foods available for animals such as cows and chickens. However the lecturer opposes that idea , and says: In order to produce ethanol fuel some other part of the plant are used such as callolos, and plant's cells that are not eaten by animals is used for production.
Third, the article writes that the price of ethanol fuel is much higher than gasoline fuel without government's help in the form of tax subsidies given to producers, and if the government cut down its help, the price of ethanol would increase a lot. However, the speaker says that in future, ethanol will become cheaper, and would not need government help always, because if the amount of production of ethanol fuel increases, the price drops down greatly. Researchers estimate that if the amount of ethanol increases three times greater than now, the price reduces by forty percent.
