The article discusses a fascinating topic pertaining to type of working schedules and provides few reasons of support. However, the professor explain that it has some negative effect and opposes each of the author's reasons.
First the reading stated that individuals should be given option either 4 days or 5 days in a week which is compulsory and lead to increase the profit and moreover, workers effiency are increased owing to less error they will tend to do after having rest. In contrary, the professor provides the information offering 4 days job will induce to decrease the profit due to new employee's needs such as training, medical insurance as well as office space and computer. Clearly, a disparity exist between the article and the evidence exhibited by the professor. As a result, we can safely assume that hiring new worker for 4 days shifts contains disadvantages.
Second, the reading pushes forth the idea that unemployment ratio will be diminished due to working hours of full time employee is lessened which cause to hire new worker. Nevertheless, the professor contends that by explaining it is risky because instead of hiring new employee, the employers would ask their workers in order for overtime as well as raising their expectation therefore, no additional job will be required.
Finally, the reading posits that with 4 day option, the workers would gain more free time that improve their qualities of life, for instance; spending extra time with families, private interest so on and so forth. The professor refutes that point by explaining that indeed this option may reduce the quality of life and and job ability. Moreover, they lose their chance to advance their career and also with any economical down can give rise to lose their job.
In summary, while both the reading and lecture provide interesting information with regard to types of working schedules, a significant amount of evidence support that grounds which are provided by the professor much more legitimate. Therefore, the reading fails to justify the claim towards the professor.
