Some say all offenders should be sent to prison, other argue that there are better alternatives such as community work for those who commit minor crimes. Discuss both viewers and give your opinions.
From both viewers’ perspectives, we can see that there are two different points of view. One is the victims’ point of view, and the other is the offenders’ point of view. Hence, I will be using both different point of views and give my opinions.
Firstly, I will start with the victim’s point of view. From the victims and the family point of views, it is normally to “say all offenders should be sent to prison” as they are the one who has been hurt and being harmed. Therefore, they will want the offenders to be sent to prison to receive the punishment that they deserve. Although sending them to prison could not rewind the pain and harm brought to them, but at least this will make them feel a little better, as they know there is still justice in the world. Those who did wrong will be given the punishment they deserve.
Secondly, from the offenders and the family point of views, it is also normally for them to “argue that there are better alternatives such as community works for those who commit minor crimes”, as they would not want their family members to suffer in the prison, all would wish that they will be given lighter punishments.
However, in my opinion, I think that all offenders should be sent to prison even if they only commit minor crimes. Minor crimes are still crimes, and there will still be damages and harm done towards the victims. Sending all offenders to prison also can help to educate the people that wrong is wrong, and the consequences of doing wrong things is to get punishment. This will also help to make the world better, as there will be justice.
