The pie chart gives information about the expenditure of people in the UK on seven different products in two different years 1971 and 2001.
Overall, it can be seen that in 1971 people in the UK had spent a major proportion of their money on food, while in 2001, after three decades their preference changed and in this year the highest percentage of money they spent on cars .
The expenditure on food by people in UK was 44% in 1971, however this figure dropped to one third (14%) in the year of 2001. Similarly, the spending on book also reduced significantly from 6% to 1% during the period. But the proportion of money spent on petrol and furniture were almost same in both years.
On the other hand, the percentage of money spent on cars almost doubled in 2001 comparing to 1971,from 22% to 43%. The same trend shows in the case of money had spent in restaurants, in 1971 it was 7% after three decades it doubled to 14% in 2001. Finally, the money expenses on computer by the people UK increased dramatically in 2001 (12%) , when compared to 1971 figure (2%), an increase of 10%.
