The chart shows the amount of leisure time enjoyed by men and women of different employment status.
The chart compares the number of hours of leisure time enjoyed by men and women in five different employment status from 1998 to 1999.
Overall, it is clear that men had more hours of free time than women did but they did not have any free hours when they were employed part time or when they were doing housewives.
Men who were unemployed and retired had the most hours of leisure time, at about 80 hours per week for both categories. These figures were slightly lower for unemployed women and retired women, which was about 75 hours per week for both. The number of hours that employed full time women had was 38 hours per week, lower than that of men, which was approximately 50 hours.
In term of emloyed part time and housewives, the trend was different. While employed part time women and housewives women had 40 hours and 50 hours of leisure time per week, men in the same emloyment status had no free time at all.
