The charts compare six common electricity categories in Australian home in terms of energy usage and gas emissions.
It is clear that the majority of energy consumed by an average Australian household are for heating purposes including water and other heating. Likewise, heating is blamed for the largest percentage of gas emissions by Australian home.
As regard to domestic home energy usage, 72% of energy used are for heating, whereas water heating accounted for 30% and other heating made up 42%. Other appliances take up 15% of the total energy consumption, while refrigerator's figure is considerably lower, at 7%. By contrast, the rate of energy consumed by cooling and lighting were lowest, at only 2% and 4% respectively.
It is clear that Other appliances accounted for 28% of gas emissions produced by Australian home, compared to 47% of heating purposes. 14% of gas released by domestic home are from refrigeration. Meanwhile, cooling and lighting have the lowest percentages of gas emissions, at 3% and 8% respectively.
